Conceived by Portuguese engineer, Raoul Mesnier du Ponsard, the funicular Bica was installed in 1892.
Due to its enormous historical importance, cultural and tourist, the elevator was classified National Heritage in February 2002.
it is always possible to see the funicular, either from a balcony, a window or from entrance door of Casa da Bica/Lisbon Bica House.

The Bairro Alto: What you can see and do? Capirinhas, mojitos or simply a beer together with different beats such as african brazilian music or fado or some DJ, this is the place to go mainly from Thursday to Saturday. It's the nightlife quarter, with alternative stores that stay open until late at night. The weather invites you to be outside and just relax and mingle with new friends.

ChiadoChiado is in the heart of the most stylish and trendy neighborhood of Lisbon: 3 minutes walking from Bica House. Surrounded by traditional cafes, all kind of restaurants and the best shops, it has everything less than 5 minutes walk. In fact, just in front of the apartment, along the square you  can find many examples of the good quality  restaurants of the area. And the best is that you can have it all but still be in a quiet place, as the apartment is located in a calm street without cars.
Transport couldn´t be easier, although they will mostly not be necessary as Chiado is in a central position in the historical area, at walking distance (less than 15 minutes) of most of Lisbon interest points like the Castle, Se Cathedral, Alfama and the river.

Cais do SodreCais do Sodré is the railway station in Lisbon, serving westbound suburban route to Cascais resort and other beatiful beaches like Carcavelos (a surfer paradise) and Estoril, 20 minutes away from Bica House. The Cais do Sodre Railway Station is 10 minutes walking from Bica House. It is adjacent to the Lisbon Metro station of the same name which is the terminus for subway's Green Line (Linha da Caravela). It also has interchange to the ferry station of Transtejo & Soflusa company which offers ferries to Cacilhas, Seixal and MontijoCais do Sodre square has a vibrant night life with many cafes and restaurants.
The complex is situated at Duque da Terceira square in central Lisbon on the bank of Tagus. Metro Station was opened on 18 August 1928. The architects of the building were Pedro Botelho and Nuno Teotónio Pereira. Metro station is decorated with works by abstract artist António Dacosta and is well known for having an underground waterfall.
